Who are these new Zags, and when will they get healthy?
8 newcomers including our top rated recruiting class of all time. It is not all rosy as first, our point guard heir apparent, Brock Ravet, left the team for personal reasons. The career scoring leader in Washington, 2 time player of the year in Wa, 31 ppg, with long range capabilities could not handle the team concept that Few teaches. He only played for his father, and he couldn't fit the team concept. Few is not happy with the situation and refuses to address it. Killian Tillie had surgery on a knee right before the season began, and has also sprainded his ankl. Grad transfer, Admon Gilder hadn't played in a year with a medical complication, and has an aching knee, new point guard transfer Ryan Woolridge hurt his knee, and freshman Anton Watson sprained his ankle badly and had a shoulder sublexation. 4 of our top 6 players have been out or much less than 100% all season. Yet,Timmie, Petrusev, Kispert and Ayayi are playing great team ball and the skill level is there, but it will take much longer to develop to build what Few expects each season- a WCC championship, with a high seed for a path to the final 4.
I'll be at the game tomorrow vs. my alma mater- Eastern Washington, in the Kennel. Go Zags!
No. 1 in the AP, so now it's time to lose? To Detroit Mercy?
Our best player and 6th man are still healing, and we hope to keep improving so we can be prepared for an arduous WCC conference slate.
