According to the Associated Press, college basketball teams could have a new format for schedule their regular season.
The council vote still needs to be reviewed by the NCAA Board of Directors. The proposal will give teams an option between having a 28 or 29 game schedule.
Teams will have the option of having a 28 game schedule with a multi-team event of up to 3 games or a 29 game schedule with a multi-team event of up to 2 games. A multi-team event of up to 3 games must b be completed within 10 days and a multi-team event of up 2 games must be completed within 5 days. This would allow teams to play up to 31 regular season games. Teams who do not participate in a multi-team event will be able to play 29 games and non-division 1 school can only compete if they are the host school(such as Chaminade in the Maui Jim Maui Tournament).
Thanks Fin, I was wondering about new ways to navigate the season. Syracuse is going to miss those 30,000 people in attendance for sure! Even if it is only for one game a year. Play the games outdoors with limited seating? Bring back the street baby!
